Victorian Silver Bug Brooch – SOLD

Victorian Silver Bug Brooch -SOLD

This lovely cute little Victorian Silver Bug Brooch has a Chrysoberyl, ‘Cats Eye’, body. The brooch has seed pearls set into the wings and garnets set into the body and eyes. The Victorians were very keen on insect jewellery,  you will often find brooches in an array of different insects, scarabs, spiders, flies, beetles, dragonflies etc.

The brooch is set in silver with a Victorian c clasp. There are no hallmarks or makers mark to the back which wasn’t uncharacteristic of the period.  I think this was probably made in England.

Size:   Brooch 1 1/2″ wide x 1 1/4″ deep
